For many people, Valkyrie Chronicles 4 It could be your first foray into the franchise. Luckily, it was actually developed to support this, with a side story to the original game. But for newcomers, there’s still a lot to learn about the actual mechanics. The game’s tutorial walks you through decently, but there’s a lot we wish we’d known when we started. Here are some tips to stay alive on the battlefield.
BRING A DOCTOR AND SAVE OFTEN
Valkyrie Chronicles 4 to permanent death. For real. Your best sniper goes down and could be gone for the rest of the game.
Fortunately, there are ways to prevent this. Unsurprisingly, medics are terrible in combat, but they can revive downed players with no health and take them to the brink of the abyss. They are also good at supplementing wounded soldiers, making them a great addition to your second wave. Just remember that the medic only has a few turns to reach a dying soldier before intervening. So be careful with your placement.
If you’re really worried about making a permanent mistake, remember that you can save after each round. Unlike Fire Emblem, where you have to start a fight from the beginning, Valkyrie Chronicles 4 it’s much more forgiving. So if you can’t take the loss, save the scum as much as you want.
SNIPER ARE YOUR STARS SO KEEP THEM HAPPY
There are many useful units on the battlefield, but none more so than the sniper. As you can imagine, as long as they get a decent headshot angle, they can attack from the wrong distance and deal critical damage. Even towering mortars and enemy snipers can’t usually stand up to your own dead eye, so keep them safe and handy.
The downside to using snipers is their ammo capacity. Basically, they can only fire a few shots before they need to refuel. This is where engineers come in. These units can refill friendly units’ ammo reserves as much as they like, so pairing an Engineer with a Sniper is always a good tactic. You can always send the engineer back for a turn to replace other soldiers, but you’ll want them back on the sniper side soon.
KEEP FRIENDS TOGETHER
Keep an eye on your unit list. It’s easy to miss, but you can tell which units like each other. If you keep a duo side by side during a fight, you’ll sometimes see them dual attack, increasing their collective damage.
For example, Kai the sniper likes Riley and Raz, so make sure you keep them together.
This is not Awakening of the Fire EmblemHowever, don’t expect time-traveling super babies to join your team any time soon.
ALWAYS USE YOUR HEROES
Even if you don’t plan on using any of the main heroes for a mission, it’s always a good idea to bring them along. As you will quickly learn, CP (Combat Points) are for life Valkyrie Chronicles 4. That means it gives you more moves per turn.
Landing a hero on a mission increases your overall CP, but if they manage to get killed you lose that CP boost, which can be pretty crippling.
So if he turns out to be one of the more fragile heroes, keep him in the back row. They get the CP boost no matter where they are and you don’t have to worry about them being plugged in.
Interesting note: the enemy will have their own group of heroes. Eliminating these heroes actually removes the CP from the enemy’s current count, making them less likely to turn the tide. So if you have the opportunity, target those enemy heroes first.
KNOW YOUR GRANADIOS
The new class of Valkyrie Chronicles 4 is the pomegranate, and it’s extremely handy to have around. They bring with them a comically large mortar cannon that they can deploy into a defensive position and rain down hell on the enemy.
Grenadiers are great for taking out enemies from above or from behind cover. Before attacking, you can aim your shots to land squarely on a hidden enemy’s head. Even if you don’t kill them right away, they can take cover, making them an easy target for your sniper.
Just like the sniper, the grenadiers have a terrible ammo capacity. Make sure your engineer isn’t too far away and you should be golden.
LEAVE SOME SPACES OPEN
Each mission has a maximum number of units you can take with you. It’s always a good idea to leave one or two of these slots empty. Don’t worry: we’ll round them off a bit.
If you capture an enemy camp, you can bring friendly units directly to that location without them having to sabotage it from the mission’s starting point. This is especially useful when you’re not sure if you need a spearmen, then a huge tank will spawn. Leaving some slots open allows you to be a little more reactive and shift your strategy to what the enemy throws at you.
These tips should help you get started Valkyrie Chronicles 4, but it’s always a good idea to try new strategies and combinations. There is no single way to win all missions, and experimentation can lead to some pretty interesting results.
