Fall is full of wonderful (and free) craft supplies… There are so many fun things you can make with leaves of all colors (have you seen our leaf lion?).
We love collecting leaves, it’s almost like we can’t get enough of them (although we have many more than we’ll ever use) and we love creating with them even more, whether it’s about Display crafts like this turkey craft or anything trades various fun decorations.
For this particular project we packed maple leaves of all colors. This project will look amazing with any color, although I have to say the yellow and red leaves turned out to be the best! Of course, you can even color the leaves or add textures with markers to take this clever project idea to a whole new level.
Ready? Print out our template (you can find it at the end of this tutorial) and start creating!

Or follow this step-by-step guide with pictures
Print out our model. We recommend printing on thicker printing paper as it will better withstand the humidity of the blue and won’t wrinkle. Plain paper works too.
Two pages are included, one with a single turkey to use as a base (skip this page) and one with two turkeys for kids to color in and cut out.
*Color the turkey. We used markers to color it in, but it’s fun to use any medium: crayons, chalk, crayons…
*After coloring, cut out the turkey and its legs.
*Take the other piece of paper with the turkey craft base on it and apply a liberal amount of glue to the tail area.
Alternatively, you can just stick to the leaves.
*You can cut the determinations off the leaves or just leave them as they are.
*Glue the leaves to the turkey template.
If you want a multicolored turkey tail, we recommend making the base out of larger red leaves and placing smaller yellow leaves on top.
*Continue to glue the leaves onto the template, adding glue to the leaves or base as you go.
*When you’re happy with how the turkey tail looks, glue two turkey legs to the base (you can also glue them directly to the colored body, whichever is easier for you).
*Take the colored turkey body, apply a generous amount of glue to the back.
*Press the turkey body against the ground.
*Give the glue some time to dry.
