Mini Yarn Hats Ornaments – DIY Christmas Ornaments

If you’re looking for the cutest Christmas ornament ever, try these mini yarn hat ornaments. Super easy to make and they look amazing!

We’ve wanted to do them for years and this year we finally did it.

We love making our own Christmas decorations and are adding more and more unique designs each year (such a fun tradition).

Yarn mini hat decorations

What do you need:

• Paper rolls (toilet paper roll, paper towel rolls etc.)
• Yarn in many colors – we recommend yarn that isn’t too expensive – we love this color assorted pack (I think it’s good value for money and you get a good choice of colours) or this color changing yarn set. If you want something magical, check out this color (not the frugal one, but oh my god!)
• scissors
• tissue paper

Start by cutting the yarn into strands.

You will need lots of threads, all the same length, the length will depend on the width of your paper roll, so you need to find the perfect length for you.

You can start by cutting 1 thread and try it.

Cut the paper roll, you only need a thin “ring”.

“Fold” the wire in half and slide the “loop” side through the paper roll.

Now take the other end and “fold” it over the paper roll and into the loop. Drag to tie a knot.

Rinse and repeat until the entire paper roll is covered with twine.

Once everything is covered you need to slide the thread through the paper roll.

I’ve found that the easiest way to do this is to “twist” all the wires and thread them through.

Roll a small ball in tissue paper.

Slide it into the paper roll; This will help you get the perfect hat shape and keep the yarn in place.

Now all you have to do is tie a knot around the strands to get a nice hat shape and trim the pom pom for a prettier shape.
