How to make paper snowflakes

What do you need:

  • our printable paper snowflake templates (you will get them at the end of this tutorial)
  • Plain paper (the lighter the better as thicker paper is difficult to cut)
  • scissors

We also used a craft stick to make the folds neater.

You can also embellish your paper snowflakes with glitter glue to make them even fancier.

Follow the instructions step by step

Choose your favorite snowflake designs and print them out (use the template at the end of the tutorial). A simplified version of the instructions is included on each page, making this a great class project.

We use regular printing paper, but recommend using the lightest paper you have for easier cutting.

Use your scissors to cut out the square.

First we need to fold the square in half to get a triangle.

Fold this triangle in half as shown in the image below.

You need to fold the left and right parts of the triangle backwards.

Your future snowflake should look like this.

Cut off the parts you don’t need.

You can start by cutting off the top of the folded snowflake.

Cut along the lines to remove the “grey” area – the area is marked in the little guide at the bottom of each page.

Unfold the finished snowflake gently and slowly.
