Making snowmen in the snow is best, but when there’s no snow outside (or it’s just too cold), our tutorial will show you how to make an equally fun paper snowflake snowman. Well, almost as much fun.
This craft really lets you play with colors.

Snowmen are perfect for Christmas crafts (you can even make Christmas cards) and winter crafts for kids – you can make them super festive or keep them simple.
These are also great for classroom crafts as they look great on a cork board, especially if you use different colored backgrounds to create them.
How to make a paper snowman?
What do you need:
- White paper
- black paper
- orange paper
- brown paper
- colored cardboard for the background
- the glue
- Black marker
Step by step guide
Prepare your papers.
You’ll need a larger rectangle for the background – we used a card-sized rectangle (we folded a sheet of paper in half twice and cut it to get our rectangle).
Next you will need 3 strips of white paper, 2 about the same size and 1 smaller (and thinner).
Had a strip of black paper (about the same size as the smaller white stripe) for the.
A half circle of black paper is also needed for the snowman hat.
If you want the snowman hat to be more colorful, you will also need a thin strip of paper (we used blue in this tutorial).
Finally, a small triangle for the snow woman’s nose (you can use an orange or red pom pom instead) and two brown branches for the hands.
Exact dimensions are not required here, the craftsmanship is excellent.
Start by making the snowman’s body.
Take the three white strips of paper and tape the ends together to make 3 rolls of paper.
Allow the glue to set, once set, apply glue to one of the larger rolls of paper…
…and stick it on the bottom of the base paper.
Take the second large roll, apply glue and glue it to the first.
Do the same with the smaller white paper roll.
Next, take the black half circle and apply glue to one side.
Glue the semicircle to the snowman (the smallest of the 3 paper rolls).
Take the black paper strip and roll it into a roll of paper (glue the ends together).
If you want to decorate it, stick the thin paper strip (blue) around the black paper roll (below).
Apply glue to the paper roll and stick it to the card just above the black half circle.
Add some glue to the ends of the branches (the ones made from brown paper) and glue them onto the snowman.
Draw the eyes, mouth and buttons with a black marker (or another marker if you want to color the buttons).
Put some glue on the orange triangle and stick it to the snowman.
Complete! Now you know how to make a paper snowman and you can teach it to your kids.
