How to Draw an Octopus – step by step drawing tutorial
This is one of the easiest ways to draw an octopus! Even the 8 tentacles, which are a bit difficult to draw at times, will be easy to handle.
What do you need:
- our printable directional drawing template (you can get it at the end of this drawing tutorial)
- sheet of paper
- Printer
- black marker (or pencil, colored pencil, …)
Optional: Medium Dye to color your finished designs.
Step 1.
Start drawing the head. Draw an inverted U shape with the open ends rounded inwards. Or as you would also call it a horseshoe shape.
2nd step
Continue shaping the head: Starting at the end of the U-shape, draw a support shape on each side. You see how easy it is!
step 3
Here is the first pair of squid tentacles. Continue from the end of the support shape and draw the first tentacle.
Have both tentacles pointing up; This leaves enough space to draw everyone else.
step 4
We’re going pretty fast! You’re almost there! Now draw 4 more tentacles.
step 5
Only two tentacles left! Draw these two between the first pair of tentacles and the other 4 you drew.
Also draw the eyes and the mouth. Or just eyes if you’re looking for a more realistic look.
step 6
Now all that’s left to do is draw the final details: the suction cups on the tentacles and maybe a dot or two on the head.
Paint with your favorite colors.
