We thought a cute little four season tree would be a great addition to exploring and learning about the seasons. This can be a fun four season craft for kindergarten and preschool kids, although some help from parents or teachers is required.

Kids can decorate this project in so many ways, and you definitely don’t have to be limited to markers, crayons, or pencils! You can add even more dimension to this 4-season tree with scrap paper, tissue paper pom-poms, and other “popping” materials.

Print out our DIY templates. For this craft you will need 4 trees (no matter which model you choose).

We print ours on thicker printing paper. Plain printing paper also works well (but not as strong and durable).

Once you have your models it’s time to get creative and color them all.

*

Have the children color a tree for each season. Let them be as creative as possible.

When everything is colored, cut the sheet of paper in half (along the dotted line). Of course you can cut them in half before the kids start coloring.

*

Now we need to fold the trees in half!

There are two ways to do this. You can do this before you start slicing, like we did – there’s a dotted line at the top and bottom of the tree to show where the middle is. Fold along this line.

You can also cut the trees first and then fold them in half.

*

Cut the trees.

*

Cut in half again, this time with the colored side inwards.

Bend all four trees. Take the spring shaft and apply glue to one side (as shown in the picture below).

*

Take the summer tree and glue it to the spring tree. Press down to set the glue.

*

Now take the autumn tree and glue it on top of the spring and summer tree.

Proceed to the winter tree.

Now to make a tree of the four seasons, apply glue to the “winter” and glue winter and spring together.
