How to make the best baked cinnamon apples

The apple filling comes straight from our popular Apple Crisp recipe. It’s really easy. Just flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. You can put it on anything and it would taste amazing, but when you cover apples with it, it’s crazy!

*

We like to bake our halved apples. You can go the more traditional route and make a well in the center of each apple and put the filling in the center, but if we cut the apples in half we’ll be using more of the filling than I mentioned. We prefer a high hedge-to-apple ratio. I said this baked apple recipe was easy, let me show you how easy it is!

Start by dividing each apple in half. We’re using crunchy honey apples here, but any sweet, firm apple should work. Use a spoon to remove the core and seeds. Then arrange the apple halves in a casserole dish and sprinkle with some brown sugar and cinnamon. If you love cinnamon apples, try our easy applesauce.

Now the filling. Melt some butter in a saucepan, then add flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and some salt to the butter. swirl it for fewer dishes!

*

Spread the filling over the apples, press lightly and they are ready to cook.

*

Put them in the oven for 40 minutes and then make your ice cream! And maybe a salted caramel sauce. So that’s it, pretty easy dessert for tonight but 100% awesome for friends and family (or the holidays)!
