Destiny 2 Prestige Raid Lair guide, July 31 – Aug. 6

*

Bungie/Activation

The new prestige system for the destiny 2 Raid Lairs challenge players in a whole new way. Instead of adding new mechanics to each fight, players have to customize their loadout in very specific and unique ways. But the rewards are great: an exclusive 400 power raid weapon.

Each week our guides will take you through the Prestige Attachments and gear requirements. We also offer suggestions on weapons you might want to take into battle.

The freight

Kinetics: Auto Rifle

Kinetic Auto Rifles are still pretty good at it destiny 2, also with the rise of most other weapons in recent months. While only particularly effective at medium range, auto rifles give you the ability to deal decent damage to the boss and take out adds with ease. You just have to rely on something with longer range for distant enemies.

We recommend: Sweet Business Exotic, Ghost Primus, Duty Bound or Origin Story

Energy: Pulse Rifle

The Pulse Rifle should be the perfect raid weapon for most players to take to their hideouts. They have a versatile range and come with very powerful perk combos. The only problem with Energy Pulse is how little damage it does to bosses. Considering the other weapons this week, that’s not a problem.

We recommend: Exotic Graviton Spear, Inaugural Spear, Final Curse, or Infinite Paths 8

Power: Sniper Rifle

Sniper Rifle week should be the easiest boss damage week yet, with multiple options meant to tear enemies apart. While there are some legendary snipers that could be good here, you should probably reserve that slot for an exotic weapon, especially if you have the new Whisper of the Worm.

We recommend: Exotic Wormwhisper. If you don’t already have it, consider the exotic DARCI, IKELOS_SR_v.1.0.1 or Alone as a God

the appendage

prism

Prism will be one of those modifiers that sometimes helps you and often doesn’t do anything for you. However, you can use it in your favor if you do it at the right time, which will not be possible in all situations.

Prism cycles through all three elements on a set timer. If you can time the buff from Golden Gun, Whisper of the Worm, etc. you can increase your damage dramatically.

This week’s strategy

Argos, Eater of Worlds

There’s almost nothing different about this fight with this gear and accessory, and beating the boss should be relatively easy and doable for most teams this week. The key to defeating Argos quickly is to wait for Argos’ shield to dissipate just before Solar launches. Once the shield is down and Sun Prism active, take it out with Golden Gun, Sunbreaker Hammers and Whisper of the Worm.

Val Ca’uor, Arrow of the Stars

Val Ca’uor is the tougher of the two fights but it should still be a lot easier than last week. There’s not a lot of strategy this week, especially since the gear for combat isn’t too far off from what you’d normally use. Since you also can’t program your Prism times during combat, you’ll need to run normally. Luckily, thanks to the snipers, you can evade the missiles of Val Ca’uor.
