Destiny 2: Hawkmoon Exotic hand cannon – As the Crow Flies and Let Loose Thy Talons quest guide

On December 8th, Bungie launched a surprise mission in goal 2: Beyond the Light for Hawkmoon, the returning hand cannon from the original goal. The weapon ties right into the story of the Hunt Season and lets players come and talk to Spider. You must have Season of the Hunt to pursue Hawkmoon.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get the returning hand cannon and what you can do.

Talk to Spider in his lair

The first thing you have to do for Hawkmoon is go to Spider’s hideout on the Tangled Shore. Land on the shore and head to Big Man’s Lair. After a short popup, you must select the mission from Spider’s inventory. You can now officially launch Bird’s Eye Flight.

Step 1 – Search outside of the spider lair

The pen is in the box, right next to the door.

The first step in this quest is to look outside of Spider’s lair, but the game won’t tell you what you’re looking for. You’re looking for a paracausal pen that looks the same as the gold pen that marks the mission’s tooltip.

To find this first feather, exit Spider’s Lair and head left through the door. Stop before you reach the Sparrow sigil and look at the trap box next to it. Above you can see a golden feather leaning on the box. Choose.

The first feather is at the entrance to Spider’s Lair.

Step 2 – Find the second spring

You can see the old growth forest from the position of this spring.

You won’t find the second feather in the Tangled Shore, and instead you’ll need to check the mission’s lore section if you’re looking for a clue.

But you’re not here for leads. Open your Director and select the EDZ. Land at The Sludge in the northern part of the map. Go forward and enter the small ravine. Go left and climb up the cliff. There is an old warehouse on the right.

Look into the forest and then turn left, you will see a broken walkway with a triangular roof. If you look closely, you can see the second feather glowing on the floor of the catwalk. Go up and grab it.

Step 3 – Find the third spring

Just jump right once you land.

For the third feather, you want to fall down to the cosmodrome via the Steppes landing zone. This one is pretty easy. As soon as you land, turn right and you’ll see a huge concrete pillar. Jump down and you will find the third spring.

To do this, you do not need to leave the steppe

Step 4 – Find the fourth feather

With this pen you approach blind people well

For this feather, you want to land in the Dreaming City via the Divalian Mists landing zone. Proceed to the entrance of the cesspool. As you approach the giant doors, look to your left and you’ll see the feather resting on the giant pillar. Take it.

If you make it to the cesspit stairs, you’ve gone too far

Step 5 – Find the fifth feather

The pen is located next to the HR Giger machines

This spring is a bit more hidden than the others. Go to the moon and land on Eris. Take your sparrow to the left and enter Archer’s Line. But instead of continuing to Hellmouth, descend to the moon through the gate in that area. Follow the path until you can turn left and go down the path to the Shrine of Oryx, just like you did in the first Season of the Hunt quest.

Push your way through the tunnels of the moon until you reach the shrine itself: the spooky structure with the small room below. On the other side of the room, by the stairs, you’ll find the final spring.

This is where you should be on the map, below the surface through Archer’s Line

Step 6 – Talk to Crow

With quills in hand, speak to Crow in Spider’s Lair on the Tangled Shore. He will give you a new set of quests: Drop Your Claws.

Let go of your heels Level 1: Scream from beyond

Uldren will give you a new task. You must complete the Cry from Beyond quest in the EDZ. Go back to The Sludge and start the Shiny Bird quest. Follow the raven throughout the mission until you reach Hawkmoon’s effigy. Pick it up to complete the mission.

Step 2: Return to Raven

When the quest is complete, return to Crow and share what you’ve learned with him. He will give you the next step of the quest.

Stage 3 – Generate and collect 50 Power Orbs

Crow wants you to activate Hawkmoon’s image. Equip Master Weapons and run the Kingship Dock Lost Sector on the Tangled Shore until you have all 50 points. You get one point for spawning an orb (get a double kill with a high quality weapon) and one point for picking up that orb.

Step 4 – Talk to Crow again

With all those orbs in your hands, return to Crow and give him an upgrade. It will send you back to the EDZ for another adventure.

Step 5: Research contact details

This door is open for the first time.

Go back to the EDZ, this time where Devrim Kay is hanging out in Trostland. Follow the marker in the abandoned building. A new door opens here. Communicate with the bird to complete this step.

Step 6: Plucked Feather

For this step you just have to follow the path and collect feathers along the way. The quest is fairly linear, and feathers appear as resources on your screen. The boss of the last room drops the last feather. Take the quill and return to the Tangled Shore once the quest tells you you have them all.

Step 7 – Talk to Crow

With another set of feathers under your belt, go back to Raven and talk to him. He will give you the worst stage of this entire questline.

Step 8: Kill champions or guardians

This is the worst step in this whole search for Hawkmoon. Here you need to kill 200 guardians or a handful of champions. If you like PvP, we recommend you spend a relaxing evening with it. But if you really want to complete this quest quickly, we recommend you focus on champions.

You have a few options here, which unfortunately change daily and weekly. We recommend purchasing a Legend Empire Hunt or a Legend Lost Sector depending on what you have unlocked and the featured mission of the day or week.

Once you’ve slain a bunch of champions or guardians, it’s time to reforge the legendary Hawkmoon.

Level 9 and 10: Reinforced Hawk Moon

Return to The Sludge in the EDZ. The bird is sitting on the same rock as in stage 1. Talk to the bird and play some kind of revenge from the first mission. When you reach the boss room you will have to defeat the glowing enemies and throw orbs at the taken to clear their barriers. You will eventually get Hawkmoon. Use it to defeat the last boss and you will be done with this exotic quest!

What does Hawkmoon do?

Transformative is one of the rarest exotic perks we’ve seen
Image: Bungie over Polygon

Hawkmoon’s main exotic perk is Paracausal Shot, which deals kills and precision hits to buff Hawkmoon. On the final bullet, Hawkmoon consumes the buff to deal massive damage. This makes Hawkmoon a boss killer. You won’t face the raid boss with this, but the yellow and orange bar enemies are toast if you’re accurate.

Transformative is a bit strange. And at the time of writing, Hawkmoon is too new to really understand it and its potential. It seems that after earning Hawkmoon for the first time, you can pick it up from random exotic drops or Xur. Instead of the Transformer perk, you get a normal weapon perk like a range finder or killer wind.

Here’s a tweet with some benefits of data mining.

While your first Hawkmoon may not be the best, each subsequent Hawkmoon will be unique.
