In early December, Bungie gave up the hunt for Hawkmoon destiny 2 Players as part of the Season of the Hunt. But Hawkmoon was incomplete thanks to its Random Rolls trait. In mid-January, Bungie released a secret mission called Harbinger, which not only gives players random spins from Hawkmoon, but also contains their catalyst.
Note that you need Hawkmoon to even access the quests, so get there before proceeding. How to find and complete the Harbinger quest.
find the omen
Finding Harbinger is easy once you know where to look.
Go to the EDZ and land in Trostland. Run past the church and into the half broken building. Jump into the opening on the second floor and go straight. You will see a small fireplace. When the chimney has a brick over the opening (meaning you’re the first to get there), use Hawkmoon to shoot the brick down the chimney until it explodes. You’ll know it’s working when you see the flashing brick.
Once the fireplace is open, go inside and interact with the small box to start the quest.
Note that this mission is quite difficult, so make sure you have your best gear. It’s also possible solo, but much easier in a three-man fireteam.
Step 1: Hunt the Emissaries
Once the quest starts, you have one goal: hunt down the emissaries. Ignore that for now, as finding the emissaries is our first major concern.
Go ahead and enter the chimney tunnel. This part is very linear. Follow the path through the brick walls until you reach a room with a chair and a locked laptop at the end. Hug the right wall to find a narrow path through the brick; If you reach the laptop and the chair, you’ve gone too far.
Follow the new path until you come to a locked gate next to a red sign. Interact with the door to open it. Follow the path again until you come out.
This is the hardest part of the quest, so we’re going to break it down step by step.
Look left to find a hobgoblin. Before you kill him, pay close attention to where he is standing. Kill the hobgoblin and jump into the bushes where he shot you.
Look at the dam and then at the rocks below you. You’re looking for a small ledge covered in moss. Jump down and onto the mossy rock sticking out of the wall.
On the rock, wait for a fallen tree pointing towards the dam. Jump from the rock to the tree.
While in the tree, check out the loot. Before the long slide into the water you will see a series of openings for pipes and a very thin concrete lip. Jump from where you are now to the lip. It’s a long jump, but it’s not as difficult as it seems.
Go straight along the edge until you see the first big slope on your left, no pipes, just a slope covered in mud. It may not look like it, but you can walk in this mud. Climb up until you are within jump range of the ledge directly above you. Jump onto the ledge, then jump back onto the smaller ledge above you.
Facing the water, look left, around the corner, and up. Here you see an opening with a hatch. Jump into the hole under the hatch to complete the jumping puzzle.
Inside the dam, follow the path to the long hallway. Here you will finally find the emissaries. Each uses a unique elemental shield and Match Game is enabled so breaking shields without finding the right element will be very difficult. If you make the First Emissary half healthy, he will run away. Look for a nearby gate that has a barrier with a large black orb on it. Break the orb and enter the hallway to finish off the emissary.
Repeat this process for the other two emissaries. Everything begins in the long corridor. You need to knock them down to half their health and then follow them down a hallway. When you complete the first stage, a new part of the dam will open.
Please note that emissaries will be in different locations in different weeks. Keep looking for the door and follow the path, it’s very easy.
Step 2: Follow the Falcon Part 1
Unlike the previous step, this one is very short. Return to the long room and go to where you started fighting the Third Envoy. Follow the objective marker to a door with a trapped bullet. Break down the door and follow the path to the arena.
Stage 3: Survive
This section is full of battles. Three waves of very large enemies will spawn, including more Emissaries and unstoppable champions. Make sure your loadout is set before jumping.
The space here offers plenty of cover but can still be dangerous, so we recommend using Security Supers like Bubble Titan, Well Warlock, or Stasis Hunter. Make sure you take out the sniper enemies first as they make it quite difficult to move.
As soon as you leave the room, the target changes again.
Step 4: Follow the Falcon Part 2
From the dome, jump to the top door. A golden hawk sits outside, so it’s hard to miss. Follow the path and jump into the portal.
Step 5: Go to the fragment
If you remember the Hawkmoon quest, the next step is pretty simple. You’re back in the cave where the Traveler’s Fragment is. You have to jump over the rocks until you reach the shard.
If you get lost or don’t remember the path, follow the large clusters of purple mushrooms and eventually find your way to the boss. Note that for this part of the mission and the next boss fight, you might want to beat a sniper – there are a lot of enemy snipers here, and taking them out before jumping is always the right way to go.
Follow the path until you reach the shard.
Just like the Emissaries, this path will be slightly different depending on the week. Keep following the mushrooms. If you find yourself in a dead end, try another way.
Step 6: Draw Savathun
This final boss fight can get extremely messy if you don’t focus on the right enemies. Make sure you have a Solar Sniper Rifle and Hawkmoon before starting the boss fight.
As you approach the shard, Akorite will appear. Hawkmoon does a ton of damage to this boss, so hold him down with headshots to guarantee that powerful orb at the end of your clip. When you complete his first bar, he will spawn a wave of enemies.
This is where the boss fight can go very wrong, so hide behind the rocks at the start of the encounter. Get out your Solar Sniper and look for the two Taken Knights, one on each side of the arena. Hit them both with your sniper and the enemies will stop spawning. Clean up the rest of the room to bring back Akorit.
Repeat this process until Akorit is dead.
After killing Akorit, search the chest under the shard. You get a new Hawkmoon which contains a random perk and Hawkmoon Catalyst which improves clip size and offers various headshot chaining perks. To complete the catalyst you just have to kill Hawkmoon. If you want more randomly dropped Hawmoons with different benefits, you’ll have to complete the entire quest again.
Once the mission is complete, it will appear in the Director when looking at the EDZ, meaning you no longer have to land in Trostland. You can also visit Crow at the Tangled Shore and he will give you a quest called “Bird of Prey” which will give you a new ship called the Radiant Accipiter.
