Each of the benefits listed above also has an enhanced version. Improved perks increase the duration of the perk, the potency of the perk, or the value of a weapon. For example, Improved Kill Clip increases the duration of the Kill Clip buff; Enhanced Thresh increases the amount of Super Energy you gain from kills. and the upgraded Pulse Amplifier increases the weapon’s reload value. Upgraded perks are almost always worth it, but they’re not required.
At the time of writing, updated perks do not unlock permanently. So try the normal perks first to see if you like them, then consider upgrading to their updated versions.
Perks and PvE throws to consider

While glaives have their place in PvE, they’re generally carried by seasonal artifact mods like Oppressive Glaive and Unstoppable Glaive (meaning they might not work as well after May 24th). In high tier content, they can fall behind their special weapon counterparts, although there are times when the Glaive Shield’s usefulness can really shine.
Here is our general recommendation for a PvE glaive:
- sleeve: light transmitter (reloading) or ballistic setting (range)
- magazine: light mag
- advantage 1: pulse booster
- advantage 2: frenzy
Tumb Raider is another good choice for the first set of perks, as it reloads your weapon from your ammo reserves on melee kills, including Glaive melee attacks.
Some other combinations of benefits to consider:
- Light Emitter, Light Mag, Pulse Amplifier and Relentless
- Low Impedance Coils, Light Mag, Grave Robber and Unstoppable Force
Perks and PvP roles to consider

As of this writing, Glaives aren’t very good at PvP, but they can be fun to use. When creating The Enigma for PvP, you should specify range, shield duration, or a balance between the two. These are the two most influential stats on Glaive right now.
Here is our general recommendation for a PvP glaive:
- sleeve: Auxiliary Reserves (Shield Duration) or Ballistic Adjustment (Range)
- magazine: Light Mag (reload/range) or Swap Mag (swap speed)
- advantage 1: pulse booster
- advantage 2: kill clip
Yes pulse booster becomes less effective after increasing projectile speed in Season 17, threat detection It would be a great option for improving your maneuverability, reloading, and stability around enemies.
unstoppable force becomes a great option if you plan to use a more defensive playstyle in PvP and take advantage of the Glaive Shield.
Another combination of benefits to consider would be:
- Auxiliary Reserves, Light Mag, Threat Sensor, Unstoppable Force
