Construction Paper Chick Craft

Oh we love a good and easy Easter paper craft and this construction paper chick craft is just that. A fun project for little kids too and an easy decoration for kids at heart.

This is also a great craft for the class, and if you ask each of the students to make one, it will make the cutest bulletin board (just make them without the paper backing).

You can even make a very large one out of poster paper to decorate your home or classroom.

Oh, fun Easter crafts! It’s all about chicks, bunnies and eggs and we love making fun projects with them all. Oh, and the sheep! So many great craft themes.

Since we love making things with construction paper, this one was waiting for us to make it. We made a simple paper bunny similar to this a while ago and it was a hit.

I like those construction paper girls even better, I mean look how stupid one of them has gotten – see the eyes? Crazy!

How to make a construction paper chick craft

If you make chicks big enough, you can even hide an Easter egg (a plastic egg full of treats?) inside their bodies. Talk about a fun surprise.

What do you need:

  • bright yellow construction paper
  • orange construction paper
  • green construction paper
  • Googly Eye Sticker
  • the glue
  • scissors

Clever? We will create!

Step by step instructions

To your scissors! Just a tip, if you are preparing this as a class activity and intend to do the entire cut, we recommend using a paper cutter instead.

*Cut two strips of yellow construction paper, one slightly wider and the other slightly thinner and shorter.

Also cut out two wing shapes.

*Apply a small amount of glue to one end of the paper strip…

*…and glue it to the other end of the paper strip to make a paper tube.

*Repeat with the smaller strip of yellow construction paper.

*Apply glue to one of the paper tubes…

*…and glue them on top of each other. You made your girl’s body out of construction paper.

*Glue the wings to the body. We glued ours into the largest paper tube.

*Cut out the base from green cardboard.

*Cut out the feet from orange cardboard.

*Also trim the beak while you’re at it.

*Take the little orange feet and glue them to the green base.

*Apply glue to the base, the side and slightly above the feet and glue it to the body of your construction paper chick.

*Glue on the beak.

*And googly or googly eye stickers.
