The hidden desert is only connected to the forbidden underground channel (in two different places).

Hidden desert map

Hidden Desert is a complex area filled with falling sands, deadly new enemies, and confusing passages. Various rooms and paths can only be entered by sinking into the sand on the ground until you fall into a room below. Use our map above to find out where these hidden doors are.

Your ultimate goal in this area is to go to the top right corner to trade Alfred. It’s a tough fight that doesn’t seem to bring you any rewards. Once Alfred is defeated, take the nearby elevator and go down one floor to find a newly opened passageway. In this room you collect the deep leadership Explosive ability that sinks you in the water. This allows you to open underwater chests and doors that you couldn’t before.
