The best gifts for a 13 year old girl.

Every time we see my 13 year old niece, the first thing that comes to mind is that time flies and they are growing up fast!

Times have certainly changed since I was that age, but one thing has stayed the same: As far as I can remember, we’re a lot more like kids, but we’ve always wanted cool, modern things, like teenage girls now.

I also wanted the coolest phone (but there were 3 to choose from back then), I also wanted trendy clothes (you had one and you were awesome) and all the cool new gadgets that were coming out back then (they all looked prehistoric now ).

What gifts does a 13-year-old girl want?

This question is too difficult to answer directly. Everyone is individual and has their own interests and desires, so it’s best to talk to them directly about what they want, or ask their parents if you don’t want to set a trap for them.

However, I did a poll and spoke to some teenagers about what they thought were the best gifts to get the general idea across (no guarantees though).

Casual gifts for a 13 year old girl

cash or gift cards

You really can’t go wrong with either one as they work well with almost any personality type: tomboy, feminine, athletic, music lover, outdoorsman, rocker…

They could save up for something and the money will help them. If they have a favorite store, you can give them a gift card for that particular store.

Not sure which store is your favorite? You can choose a store that has everything; For example, you can get an Amazon gift card.

The perfume was one of the most requested things and I think it’s a great idea! There are thousands to choose from and they come in all price ranges so you can get one that will please her and her wallet.

One of the most popular is Vera Wang’s Princess.Odor

clothes and shoes

Who doesn’t like or need clothes? While they make great gifts, shopping for clothes can be the hardest part!

Always respect their style choices! Well, you may have a “rebel” in your house and you want to give him something you think is “normal,” but trust me, he’s not going to be fine.

Also remember that this is a ‘tricky’ age group and unfortunately teenage girls are bombarded with (bad) ideals of beauty, so it’s easy to hurt your self-esteem with the wrong dress size.

An easy way out is to get her a gift card to her favorite clothing store or just give it to her as a gift.

Always respect their style choices!

Gadgets, electronics and accessories

These are at the top of her wish list and often, in the eyes of teenagers, are the best gifts for a 13-year-old girl.

Well, personally I’m not a fan of expensive gifts unless it’s necessary, but if you think your teen needs it, you’re responsible enough, and you can afford it, here are some of the most requested items.

  • iPhones or other phones
  • iPads or other tablets
  • Laptop
  • MP3 player
  • speaker
  • listeners

Since many “kids” already have something like this, getting an accessory for them is also a good option. Like a colorful iPhone case (or one that suits your style)!

Bracelets and necklaces are by far the most popular choices.

Makeup, beauty and hairdressing accessories

Once again, stay consistent with her style! If you are getting a gift for someone else’s daughter, also consider what their parents will or will not allow.

Here are some ideas to consider:

  • a rocker will usually appreciate eyeliner or mascara.
  • Most (not all) will appreciate a lip gloss or eye shadow. You will likely make her very happy by gifting her a brand that she normally cannot afford to buy on her own.
  • If you love your hair and don’t already have a straightener or curling iron, this makes a great gift! You can also go with a hairstyle set.
  • A bathroom gift basket is also a fun option. I mean, who doesn’t like to be pampered.
  • Skincare products for teens (remember, it’s the age of the dreaded acne we all know!)
  • nail polish (the more the better).

Something for your free time and hobbies.

A good book or two

If you have a reader at home, a book is always welcome! There are many interesting shows that 13-year-olds will love. If you like reading, great!

  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians
  • different row
  • The hunger Games
  • Gallagher girl

We’ve put together a list of great books for 13 year olds that you can check out here (we’d love to hear which books you’ve read too). A book

It’s one of the few things that hasn’t really changed since we were teenagers: we all wanted to see that movie everyone was talking about!

classes! Let them learn a life skill!

  • If she has shown an interest in playing an instrument, you can take music lessons from her.
  • If she loves to cook, why not surprise her with an advanced cooking class?
  • Horseback riding, ski lessons, skydiving (that would kill me, but I dismiss it as an idea for the less shy).
  • a trip and stay (under adult supervision) in another city or even in a country.
  • Art lessons

If you know an activity that you would like to do with your friends, this is also a great option: group classes, workshops.

digital camera

These days it’s all about taking good photos and sharing them with friends! The great thing about buying a camera is that it caters to almost every “type” of teenager.

If you like photography you will love it, if you like going to concerts you can take great photos, if you love nature you can capture it…

There are so many good ones out there and you can get them in all price ranges. This is my personal pick for an entry-level camera that’s pretty cheap compared to “serious” cameras.

Video games for the gamer girl

So do you have a player? A new video game is essential (or a new console that the whole family can enjoy but is expensive). If you don’t know what kind of video games you like, a video game store gift card is your best option.

Some ideas for a gamer girl:

  • new drivers
  • Gift voucher for the desired console (or computer games)
  • gaming headset
  • If you have a favorite character, products featuring that character are also welcome

Sports gifts for the sporty girl

A healthy mind in a healthy body. Being in good shape is important, and if that teenager is a sports enthusiast, a sports gift to further encourage exercise is more than welcome.

If you are looking for a gift for a 13 year old girl who loves sports, these are some of the ideas she might like;

  • a new ball
  • sportswear
  • Ticket for a game
  • Sports memorabilia: a signed ball, a card…
  • sports shoes
  • cool looking water bottle
  • new outfit
  • Courses paid for the sports you practice
  • Sports bag to store your belongings

Something for an artsy for the creative girl

Many teenagers are very creative, some like to draw, some like to paint or express themselves through other art forms.

  • art supplies
  • Art books – instructions for various techniques

something for your room

Stay outside! Not an uncommon sign on a teenager’s bedroom doors. Your bedroom is your space and a reflection of your personality!

Here are some of the most requested room decor gifts for a 13 year old girl:

  • Furniture: Poufs are great
  • new bedding
  • mural
  • Doorbell (I have to chuckle at this one, but I love it) – it’s a teen favorite too
  • a new lamp
  • Storage boxes they call (in their style)
  • a nice pillow
