With the arrival in January, Animal Crossing: New Horizons Players are sure to find a different group of fish, bugs and sea creatures around their islands.

There’s no rush to catch any of them, as most stay for over a month, but make sure you donate any new finds to Blathers to help complete his museum. When you’ve caught a new creature, you can tell by your character shouting “Yes!” before saying the name of the insect or fish.

You can also check your Critterpedia to see if you donated the bugfish or not. If you have one, a small owl icon will appear next to the creature’s name. (Note that these emblems will not appear if you are on another island.)

Unfortunately, the islands in the northern hemisphere are not getting any new creatures in January. You can see the list of creatures from the southern hemisphere below. Note that some of them will return to your island having previously been available. So if they look familiar, chances are you caught them during an earlier availability.
