Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? I’ll admit I’m a little rusty on names, except for Rudolph because he’s always been my favorite.

We loved adding this reindeer craft idea to our collection of Christmas craft ideas for kids to make over the holidays.

It’s also very easy to make with easy to measure pieces of this craft, it’s a great idea for a classroom art project. Can’t you see all the wonderful deer? And you can combine it with a creative writing challenge like “If I were a reindeer”…

Not only are these fun for little ones, they are a fun project for all ages and also make a wonderful DIY placeholder for a festive dining table.

Ready to make one (or ten)? Let’s craft!

Follow the tutorial step by step

First prepare the paper.

Our sizing guideline was Letter/A4 sized paper folded in half, making a quarter of the sheet (any other size in the same proportions will work well). The younger the children, the bigger the paper.

Cut the white paper and the light brown paper to the same size.

*Fold the tan construction paper in half lengthwise.

*Cut in two.

*Take one of the halves and cut it open a little lengthways.

Apply glue to one side and roll into a paper tube roll.

Let the glue dry a bit (you can use a clothespin to hold it together).

*Take the other strip of tan construction paper and fold it in half (widthwise).

Cut out a U shape.

*Fold the “legs” as shown in the image below.

*Glue the hind legs to the paper.

*Color in the helmets with a black marker.

*Also glue the front legs to the base (good curvature of the reindeer body).

*Color the front hooves as well.

*Cut out a tail shape from tan construction paper.

*And stick it on the back.

Cut out the bars from dark brown construction paper.

*Glue them to the roll of tan construction paper.

*Add two googly eye stickers and a red pom pom.

*Apply glue liberally to the body of your 3D construction paper reindeer…*…and jump on your head!

*You see, this 3D construction paper reindeer craft is incredibly easy to make, kids and kids at heart will love it too!

I hope you had fun, happy crafting!
